Sailing Academy

Lovelock Mitchell participated in the competition for the Welsh National Sailing Academy & Events Centre in Pwllheli as part of a multidisciplinary design team. The judges commented that the "building looks good" and that the positioning and circulation within the building were very good. The brown roof would have replicated local environmental conditions to allow for ground nesting birds to minimise rodent predations. The resulting roof profile was intended to provide a delicate addition to the skyline when viewed from the town while the building itself was laid out to efficiently handle the day-to-day use of the facilities and the pressures of large, national event days.
