Chester Racecourse
We can now share exciting plans for two new major projects for Chester Race Course 🏇
Our new Facilities Hub at Saddlery Way is based around the concept of a contemporary Cheshire ‘stable block’, with buildings centred around a large flexible yard space. Responding to the surrounding context, the design introduces quality architecture at a key gateway into Chester where the Race Company can centralise its offices, maintenance and hospitality divisions.
The new permanent hospitality building within the Racecourse Paddock area, with design concept by world class destination architects Kay Elliott, will replace the temporary ‘tented village’, enabling public green space to be reinstated on the Roodee. Taking inspiration from the sinuous flows of the River Dee, as well as Chester’s Roman amphitheatre in its form and materials, it is designed to blend seamlessly with the racecourse setting and its historic surroundings, while delivering a world-class experience for guests.
The plans have been refined through public consultation and, pending planning approval, work on the first phase of the development is expected to be underway by late 2025 or early 2026.
