Chester’s Newest Primary School

A recent site visit to Chester’s newest primary school, currently under construction and beginning to take its place within the new community at Kings Moat Garden Village, south of the River Dee.

This project is particularly meaningful for us. Our first school in Chester was built in 1870, and more than 150 years later, it’s a privilege to continue contributing to the city’s educational landscape — designing spaces that respond to today’s needs while investing in future generations.

Seeing the building emerge on site is a reminder that projects like this are about far more than bricks and mortar. They’re about creating environments that support learning, wellbeing and a sense of belonging for pupils, staff and the wider community.

We were also pleased to bring along colleagues from across the office, including those not directly involved in the project, to give wider exposure to site activities and the realities of construction. Sharing these experiences helps strengthen our collective understanding and reinforces the value of collaboration throughout the process.

We’re looking forward to sharing more progress as the school continues to take shape.
